AZ S4/S5/FD engine differences

OK finally getting back to resurrecting my 88 TII. A few years ago I had a link to a site that gave detailed info on the evolution of the 13B rotary. Improvements, differences etc... I have done some searching but cant find it. Wondering if its worth it to pursue a cosmo or FD engine in a S4 TII.

Not in my opinion. I kept my S4 motor, but had it streetported. It was MUCH less complicated than any swap, and there is a wealth of information about cars in OEM trim.

S4 rotors are the most sought after in any market because of their strength. I remember watching a Japanese video about it once too. I'll try to find it.

S4 rotors are more durable due to the additional material that wasn't shaved off. S5 rotors are better for engine response.

yes, i have seen S5/6 rotors actually warp for no good reason. i have never seen a series 4 rotor face cave in from detonation or expand from overheating the lubrication system, S5/6 yes they do all of that.

early rotors and late series blocks combine for the best results in building a bulletproof motor.

S4 rotors are stronger, S5 rotors make better compression.

IMO, I like S5 rotors, because, the strength isn't that big of a deal. If you detonate, 9 times out of 10 the rotor is dead anyway. Whether its S4 or S5.

This applies to the turbo of course. Some times you can get away with a small ping in the N/A motors.

BTW:
Pretty sure this was an S4 rotor.

Fd swap into a 2nd gen is alot of work, u need to intergrate stock ecu and wireing harness or get a stand alone, fab up new mounts ect.
