s4 n/a to s5 turbo

Going to do a turbo swap on my 87 n/a, using an s5 turbo motor w/ complete harness, ecu, coil packs, and s5 transmission mated with the 86 gxl lsd rear end and a s5 turbo driveshaft. anyone know of any problems i will encounter?

Well, for starters, the wiring is COMPLETELY different for S4/S5. So you will have to rewire a bunch of other stuff to get this to work. (gauges, fuel pump, etc etc)
If I remember correctly there should be some walkthroughs in the forums that detail how to do this swap.

If you are using a Turbo Transmission you need to get a custom driveshaft to use the n/a rear end. www.mazdatrix.com

turbo drive shaft wont bolt up to gxl rear end

s5 turbo engine harness will not work woth 87 car harness.

you gonna have to replace entire car harness (under the dash, power harness to coils and fuel pump) in order to use s5 engine harness

it's easier to just get s4 engine harness, but then you need to get s4 sensors too.

there are benefits of converting entire car to s5 electonics.

if you can locate s5 (can also be nonturbo) and take all electonics, that would be ideal, but lot of work.

I had a 1990 TII that the passeger side rear quarter got smashed. and i had a 1986 na with blown coolant seals. I moved all the good parts from the 1990 to the 1986 body. the rx7 has two wireing harnesses. one that is motor and the other for the rest of the car. They conect togther in one spot on the passenger side. You can't mate a s4 electrical to a s5 engine harness or vice versa.
If you use a stand alone ecu with its owen flying lead harness that means you don't have to use the engine harness. You will have to cut the other wires for the engine harness and leave the water temp and windsheild wippers out of the old engine harness. that conects to the electrical harness.
