I tore it apart this evening and the kid I bought the car from said that there was coolant in the exhaust so I figured it was just a bad coolant seal. Come to find out everything has rust and build up in it. I noticed that the center iron water jacket had broken off in a 1/4 inch gap or so. I have a parts car that will be coming Saturday that should have a s5 na motor in it. I know that I can use the rotating assembly in the s4 housings but can i also use the 5 center iron since mine has that failure? Also is anything usable because of the rust?

Am I missing the pictures with all the rust? Are you talking about the water passages?

 

That engine is done. Water jacket colapsed, housing's chrome flaking appears to be excessive. Crazy amount of rust there. Good luck man.
