RX7 Wont start. Help!

Hey RX7 Experts,

I have a 1992 Rx7 series 6 batty. Problem is, sometimes it wont start. When it does start I can be driving fine for around 20-30mins and then it would just cut off for some reason. Then I cant start it for a while. Normally If I leave it for 2 days then start it up again its fine for another half hour. It has a Apexi power fc, Battery relocated to the boot, front mount. I notice that when the car is on and I wiggle the wires at the back of the powerfc it causes it to cut off. then I cant start it anymore. I also had the fuel pump replaced prior to this happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim.

Sounds like bad wiring. I had a similar set of symptoms when the wiring to my coolant temp sensor went bad.

IDK if this might help, but it could be your fuel injectors. Read here.

update

Heres an update so far. Ive definately got spark, But I have no injector pulse. Ive replaced the ecu (had a spare lying around), which hasnt solved the problem. And after a bit of research, it seems it maybe the crankshaft position sensor. Ive purchased one today and will install it tonight and see how it goes.

fingers crossed ......

any luck? im having a similar problem, i rebuilt my n/a s4 and hooked everything back up and has good compression, spark, and I think the timing is set correctly. But i dont think it has fuel pulse and the primary injectors are under the manifold so im going to check them with a noid light tomarrow

Maybe the wiring for the fuel injector don't have good grounds. The injectors could be dirty or clogged, too.

Ok so ive replaced the crank angle sensor and still nothing. It started up then died again. Ill check the grounding on the injectors and see if theres anything interesting there.

Check your battery cables to make sure there's no acid build up.

so I hooked a noid light up to the primary injector connectors and discovered one of my connectors was broken and no power was getting to the injector. The other connector had hardly any power going to it judging by the noid light. So I replaced the connector that was broken and tested it and it had plenty of power going through it. Ive tried to start it and still no fire will someone please help

I tested one of the injectors at work and it seemed to work fine. The other injectors worked before when i hooked the to a battery and ran fuel injector cleaner through them to get them all clean. This is very frustrating im really close to selling the car

seriously, check your battery cable and connections to make sure there's no acid build up as 85gslprado said, then make sure the battery clamps are not wiggling around, also maybe replace the clamps themselves, start from the beggining

Its now sorted. Mixture of 2 things- Had the engine flushed out - was badly flooded, and the main thing was bad wiring to the ecu. Driven for 2 days now, no loss of power, no stalls, engine starts everytime. I can now enjoy my car again. Thanks for everyones input.
