Is Rtek 2.1 tuning for me?

Ok, so I have read up about the Rtek stuff and I am really excited about the 2.1 option. The idea of being able to self tune from the stock ECU seems awesome. I unfortunately have never gotten that advanced so I am trying to get a gauge of difficulty. I get the idea that you adjust the fuel based on air fuel ratio from a wideband. Here comes the dumb part.. do you literally just log/watch for lean or rich conditions at certain rpm ranges in certain gears? How? By eye? Get one that logs? I am sure there is more out there on this one I just didn't find it tonight searching. I am wondering if tuning from home is really an option with some patience or if its more just asking for it. I plan to go the upgrade path mentioned many times of exhaust, fuel, ecu, turbo, and so on to get no more than 300-350whp on a TII.

With a 2.0/2.1, you datalog all relevant engine parameters including RPM-index and boost-index, as well as the actual RPM and boost values. Review the logs, and see what AFRs you have under boost and in what RPM/Boost cell. Make corrections to the mixture by adding/subtracting fuel to the desired cell on the fuel map. Adjustments are made in increments of 0.2 or 0.3%.

For timing, it will be 100% stock by default. The values can be adjusted directly in stock LOAD-based mode. Or you can convert to MAP-based timing and program in your own leading and trailing maps. There are some used by others that are available in some of the threads in the Rtek section of the forum, as well as in the other engine management sections.

The power range you mentioned is basically at the top of what the computer can handle in terms of injectors and AFM capability. The largest injector preset is 720/720, and you have ~37% adjustment from there. Larger secondaries can be run, but the primaries should always be either 550 or 720cc depending on preset.
