Check for any vacuum lines that have popped off, or any other vacuum leaks.

Did this just suddenly start happening?

The problem has been an on going issue. The previous owner let the car sit for a few years only sporadically starting it. Sence I have owned the car (1year) I have been able to run/drive the car more consistantly by keeping Rpm around about 1k.

If it works with carbs, I believe the adjustment / calibration of the carbs may be the issue. Carbs need fine tuning to work properly in cold and hot conditions.

Probably a decent idea since the car sat would be carb rebuild time... if you take your time and take pics it can be easy...

1. Check fuel pump, it may be slowing down
2. Adjust floats
3. Check float bowls for debris

After sitting, the carb needs to be rebuilt. You'll be chasing problems forever otherwise, and don't try to adjust them out because that will make things worse.

Pull the top off the carb. If the bottom of the bowls show any signs of sediment or shiny shellac like finish you need a full tear down.
Look at the Stirling Metal Works website for some good incite on your specific Nikki carb.

I was having idling issues as well, mine were fixed by doing an EGR delete, which in most states is an issue due to smog regulations, that fixed my idling issue, also, you can adjust the idle, which helped me as well in the mean time before i fixed the EGR.
