Restoring/Upgrading an '87 base fc3s
I rescued an '87 N/A which sat through 2 or more harsh upstate NY winters. A lot of rust and a few holes. Engine runs surprisingly well for the way it was kept. I'd seriously like to restore this car and at the same time upgrade things that need replacing ( like the mufflers that rusted completely off). Car has no rear carpets, dash is missing multiple pieces including the glove box. Sunroof motor barely works without manual assistance. A lot of the paints is peeling off and there are many other numerous issues.
I've read a lot of the threads here for parts sales, but as a new user I can't reply to any posts but I'm also looking for any place I can possibly get actual new parts. Problem is I can't seem to find many parts for this particular year and don't what alternative parts I can/should use. If anyone can post suggestions on what to do about rebuilding the interior and exterior it would be greatly appreciated. I have a friend selling a TII engine and tranny, but also looking into any other alternate rotary engine/trans swaps that may be achieved without a serious amount of fabrication.

only a t2 will drop in w/out modification.
best way for body parts is a parts car, and s5-s4 body parts can be interchanged.
racingbeat.com and many others for parts.
good luck w/build!

I looked on the Banzai Racing site and noticed they have fabricated motor mounts for 13b re and 20b for the fc. not sure if this makes for a complete drop-in without any major modifications or upgrades, not including any elctronics/wiring changes, tranny, etc. Even with no mufflers and a few other issues affecting power output my N/A blows by half the hondas I come across but I want a rocket lol. As far as body parts I've been looking at some replacments fenders made of lighter material since I have a rather unsightly hole in the driver's side. Found many options for fenders on the ground dynamics site but not sure whay the best material is.

Im looking to buy my first 87 Fc3S.
What should I be expecting? mechanical failures?
For a kid wanting to buy one as a daily driver and put nearly my whole paycheck into every month. Is it worth it?
Obviously, I have to be smart on the car I buy, but honestly in my case, does it sound practical?
This is what Im looking into. Does it sound legitimate?

Wow, nice find! Wish mine was that nice to start with. I'd say if local ask for a test drive/ test ride and see how the car does for yourself. Looks pretty well kept from the pics at least.
