remapping the stock fc (2nd gen) ecu

im fairly new to tinkering with the rx-7 in general but a guy came to me looking to upgrade his 91 usdm fc rx-7 its cranking about 100 horsepower with light mods but he wants more out of it im looking for a tuning software that is compatible with the ecu so i can remap it (if its even possible to remap the stock ecu) any info would be great and links to any software would be even better, thanks

welcome to the board.

out of curiosity, what has he done to the car so far?

unfortunately, i'm not aware of any current methods of tinkering with (or otherwise modifying) the stock ECU. there used to be the RTEK box, but that was the only one that i can remember by name. if you have the skills, equipment or know-how to create something, then have at it.

my advice would be explain that to the owner. if he is serious about trying to tune the car, then there are stand-alone systems available out there, that he/you can research and choose.

Rtek information website
it breaks down the levels and what they do and what supporting mods are needed.

On a NA I would say go standalone tbh, but also I personally would not go standalone a NA.
unless it’s a full built (cooling mods, ported, ITB, full exhaust, so on so forth)

^That is the Rtek website, but to clarify for the OP they no longer produce or sell Rtek's anymore - that website is just retained for information purposes. So if you want one, your only option is to buy used.
