Arrow Reliability Please

Ok I know that this has been talked about im sure a few 1000 times but I need some help.

I have a choice right now to get one of the two cars I really love. I could get a 1991 Ford SHO or a RX7. Both are in my price range and both are cars that I really love the motors that are in them.

I know again that this has been talked about but if I picked up a RX7 that runs good will it take me to work every day? I drive 120 miles aday and I just need reliability. Please give me yalls opinion.

Like any 20+ year old car, it will be reliable if it is in good shape and maintained properly.

If the previous owner is some kid who bought the car for "drifting" and has obviously neglected it, then you might want to consider a different vehicle.

Hi, id say if you want a reliable car for everyday, try to get a non turbo RX7, those things will last forever. Well I drive my 3rd gen 40 miles a day maby 4 or 5 days a week and it holds up ok, and it better hold up ok, I spent a lot of money on it!! lol. Also, dont listen to those people who say rotaries are not reliable, becasue ive seen non turbo RX7's last to over 200,000 miles with the original engine.

For example my car is on its second engine, the original went out at about 65,000 miles. I researched why the engine went out so fast, and the reason was because the first owner let the car overheat, and she decided to drive the car to the dealer while overheating
Honestly I think ANY car would have trouble holding up if the owner abused the car like that.

I guess the point of what im saying is... the RX7 is just as reliable as an other 15-20 year old car, it just requires a lot of maintenance because its old. 120 miles a day? wow id say save your money and look for a non turbo with under 100,000 miles, you should be good

Depends on what you consider a characteristic for a daily driver. The 12A 1st gens are among the most reliable rotary cars ever built, but lack power and parts are hard to find. 2nd gen NAs are very reliable and offer more creature comforts, but lack power. TIIs can be very reliable if taken care of but be prepared to spend some money to get a purchase working correctly.
