rear wheel bearings?

i need to replace my rear wheel bearings in my 1989 s5. what is involved in doing this. (special tools?) and directions thank you

I buildt my own slide hammer with a chain and pipe to take my drive axle out!

You will need to purchase a hydraulic press and bearing installation tool. With the press it will make your life easier also if you have air tools it's a breeze. I replaced all of the rear wheel bearing in 4 hrs. with all of the mentioned tools.

I am inclined to let a shop handle this task. I am in need of one side, but figured might do both as its up on the lift and switch over to synthetic in the rear at that point. If I had room to store such a beast buying might be an option, But...
