Question quick beeps

Hi all, my name's Jake. I recently aquired a 89 n/a and have been plagued by issues. I think I've spent more time under my car than in it. Yesterday morning, I started the car and it ran ok, but yesterday afternoon I started it and it began a funny beeping. I had to get to work so I drove it with the beeping. It drove normally, so I have no idea whats causing this. So far all I've been able to find information on are beeps that have a sequence to them, and the beeping in my car does not. It just keeps on with short beeps less than a second apart with no pause whatsoever.
The first thought that went through my head when it started was "self destruct sequence initiated..."

Any help at all to get this to quit is greatly appreciated.

I can't think offhand of any Mazda factory feature which has that beep. Maybe the security system? Never had a car with that system...

Maybe it is some kind of aftermarket product that has been installed? Is it the typical beeping you hear, for example, when you turn the key?

Thats the crazy part, the beeping is a slightly different tone and faster than the normal beeping when you turn the key. This morning, as oddly as it started yesterday, it stopped. The only thing I did different was turned the climate control off prior to startup. We'll see if it starts up again this afternoon.

Next time it occurs, giggle the ignition key just a bit and see if this stops the beeping.

Ok, I feel like a complete idiot. The next day it didnt beep, that afternoon it did. It got under my skin this time. Had a thought...could it be the seatbelt reminder? Nah, couldnt be. Well, long story short it was, but apparently theres either a short or just enough gunk down in the belt latch that it doesnt always complete the circuit, so it wasnt consistent with the belt being secured, so I didnt associate the beeping with the belt.
I feel kinda dumb, but at least Im relieved that theres nothing seriously wrong with my car, not today anyway.
Thanks for the assistance.
