Pull-Up Windows...racestyle!

My drivers window is giving me problem and I've read the lowdown on possible problems and am not interested.

What I am interested in is taking out weight and having a hassle free RX experience. So...I would like to gut the doors with the exception of the guide rails, put Lexan windows in and use a strap or maybe Venetian blind cords with the little locks to bring the windows up and down and lock them in place.

Anybody ever do anything remotely similar??

Thanks guys

Mike

I assume you are having issues with the window switches?

You can rather easily rewire them with a generic set of DPDT switches.

Or, if you want to simplify, then swap in the manual regulators.

How do I know if it's the switches or the motors? I noticed the power coming out of the drivers side of the switch was only 9V. Is there any way to check or is that proof enough?

Testing procedures are in the FSM.

But 9V probably indicates that the switch contacts are burned. Very common issue.

Factory Service Manual.

The contacts in the switches burn up all the time. Mine are due for another cleaning.
