Problem with the AC blower

My AC/heater blower only blows out of the lower vents. I can't get anything on the windows, there is the tiniest amount of air coming from the front vents but it's virtually zero.
I've just had the car back from a rebuild but the car washing the road for a couple of years beforehand and although I don't remember it being this way I couldn't swear to it.

Can you guys help?

Does a lot of air come out of the lower vents, or does it seem pretty weak? What happens when you switch the mode (floor, face, both, windshield defrost)? I believe there's electric gates that divert the air depending on which mode you select, so my guess is that either those are stuck or your switch isn't working.

Yes the air blows through as you would expect in normal day to day use. The problem is that it won't divert it through the other vents IE windshield , face etc.

is this a part that needs to be replaced (like a fuse) or can it be freed up in some way?

It's helpful to post what year your car is so answers have a better chance of being model specific.

There are 'mixer doors' that close or open to direct air from to the various areas, i.e. defroster, floor, dash or combination. Those doors are moved via vacuum or small electric solenoids or motors under the dash. Sometimes they stick or break, sometimes the actuators go bad, sometimes it's a switch or power supply problem. And ease of access to those doors varies a lot, but usually, at least, a small PITA. Especially if you're old and not as flexible as you used to be...like me.

Try a search in the technical section of the generation of RX7 you have using terms like "vent", "blower" "heater" etc. I'd try just in TITLES ONLY first.

Hi sgtblue,
Ahhh, it didn't cross my mind.
It's a 3rd generation 92 plate.

I've tried searching a few times, here and elsewhere but only really found fan issues so thought I'd ask.

Yes I've been in some very awkward positions in the cockpit of my 1st rx7 but that was about 15 years ago and I'm not quite as nimble now! 😂

Question about AC 1987 RX7 FC
Does anyone know what kind of recharge the AC takes? Does it take Freon or no?

^From the factory it would have been an R12 refrigerant system.

OK then, my best guess is that it's an actuator issue.
Does anyone know where it is located?

Or better still someone who has experienced this and has knowledge of a dark art fix? 😂
