problem with heat/blower

ok...my logicon control did not put out any "feet heat" it always came out face and defrost all the time. so i got a new one from ebay, i took it out and there was 14 wires on the back, anyway to make a long story short, that one didn't work and after i took it back out i putthe old one back on and soldered the old wires to themselves EXACTLY as they were...and now there is heat ONLY out of the defrost but the regular vents blow cold air??!?!? what the hell is going on, someone help.

Are you saying that the eBay unit did not work AT ALL or that the eBay unit continued to put out face & defrost heat only?

the ebay unit started to smoke when i put it in, so i took it out and put the old one back in. but...i had to cut the wires on the stock side...like towards the firewall on it because the guy who sold it to me cut them on the back of the control unit and did not leave the connector on, so now it blows out heat out the defrost and COLD out the regular vents, with still no control over feet/head/def/ etc...but i just want it back the way it was heat out the vents and heat out the defrost, i don't even care about the controls i just want it to work...anyone?

Okay, this is important. When you're describing a problem, include as much info as you can, even if it doesn't seem important. Every bit helps. If someone tries to make fun of you for it, let them know loud and clear that they can suck your nuts.

You've got a wiring/electronic problem. Probably something to do with either the harness or the motors that control the gates in the air ducting. Either way, I'm not the best guy to help you. One of the gurus ought to be along shortly. Hang in there.

That will teach you to buy the "as is" no warranty logicons on ebay.

Funny I always offer a 6 month warrenty on the Logicons I sell... Thats twice the time that Mazda offers on a brand new one.

Anyway, it sounds like the ebay one had a bad air mix mosfet, and that took out your air mix and mode motors. You will have to test the Air/mix motor and mode motors. If either are blown they will blow up any Logicons that you plug in. I have covered how to test the air-mix and mode motors quite a few times, and if you had searched you would have found them.

But here it is again:

In the Logicon plug above the air-mix motor (above the accell pedal), unplug the logicon from it. On the car side (not the Logicon side) of the plug you will find Grn/Wht and Yellow (for the air mix motor) and Grn and Blue/Yellow for the Mode motor.

Test the resistance between the Grn/Wht and Yellow it should be between 17 and 21 ohms.

Then test the resistance between the Grn and Blue/Yellow it should also be between 17 and 21 ohms.

If either of them do not have between 17 and 21 ohms, they are smoked. You will need to replace that motor.

If they are okay, the next step of the test will be putting ground and voltage to the wires.

If you put 12 Volts+ on the Grn/Wht and ground on the Yellow, the air mix motor should move all the way over to the cold position.

If you put 12 Volts+ on the Yellow and ground on the Grn/Wht, the air mix motor should move all the way over to the hot position.

again if it doesn't move at all, then the motor is bad and must be replaced before you put a new or rebuilt Logicon in.

Next you'll need to check the mode motor.

If you put 12 Volts+ on the Grn and ground on the Blue/Yellow, the mode motor should move all the way over to the Defrost position.

If you put 12 Volts+ on the Blue/Yellow and ground on the Grn, the mode motor should move all the way over to the Vent position.

again if it doesn't move at all, then the motor is bad and must be replaced before you put a new or rebuilt Logicon in.

And never ever buy a logicon with a cut harness, if the key was on when it was cut it will be all sorts of blown up inside and the Genie will escap as soon as it can (as what happened with yours).

ya the guy who sold it said there was no cut wires or anything and guess what..THERE WAS, so i thinik im done with ebay altogether i have been ripped off to many times, but anyway, thanks so much, i will get right on that tommorrow morning as its like 10:00 here...but it sounds right on, just one more thing...the heat still works out of the defrost under the windshield, but not in the vents, i still don't get how cold and hot can come out at the same time

well, the way that the defrost works is that heat goes low and cool goes high.

So for example if you have it set on the all on position (as shown in the picture above, the 2nd position from the left) and you set your heat in the middle, (again as shown in that picture) you will get heat coming out the feet position, but cool air coming out the middle position.
