pre-mix and smog
Hello all, I just aquired my first rx7 and its the same age as me! (1988) anyhow back to point, the car has a street port and meagan racing catback (home made by po) and he was running pre-mix 1 ounce per gallon and I was wondering if running the pre-mix will make the car fail smog? I will perform the ever so intricate once over but that was a rather grey area for me so you input is much appreciated
As long as the amount you're premixing isn't excessive, it should be fine. But if the streetport on the engine is on the larger side, you could be looking at a negative effect on emissions.
the po was telling me he was running an ounce of oil per gallon, is that to excessive? would it be a better idea to just run straight 87 before the smog? or in some way would pre-mix help?
1 oz per gallon isn't excessive.
lower octane is better for rotaries, as long as it's not forced-air induction or heavily modded. and unless your omp is blocked off no need to premix. redundant and extra $$
hopefully ojai is basic area smog like my area, enhanced smog area suck ***
