Pettit SMIC Install
Pettit SMIC Install
I've got an FD3S, and I got the original IC out, but I can't remove the shroud and ducting because of the little tank on the driver's side. Is that tank part of the AC system, or the AST? I don't really want to cut it out, but I don't see any other option at the moment, since I don't know if it's fine to temporarily remove those line.
Thanks for the help,
Lane

Really, nothing? I know some of you have done the Pettit install in the past. I'm now pretty sure that the bottle is for the AC system, but I still haven't found a diagram that tells me exactly what it is...
So how did those of you who've gone to an aftermarket intercooler remove the stock duct? I'd like to avoid cutting it if possible, but I don't see any other way at the moment...

You have enough posts to check the 3rd gen specific section for such a setup.

That is the equivalent of a receiver dryer. If you loosen the 10mm bolts that hold it to the front support, and the clamps that hold the hard lines to the frame (the aluminum a/c lines) you should be able to gently lift it enough to remove the IC shroud.
I just did this so I know it works if careful
Good Luck

^This. Remove the battery, the stock intake box. Unbolt the stock AST from the IC and lay it aside...IIRC, you don't have to remove the lines. Then remove the two 10mm bolts and carefully lift and tilt the drier while moving the duct down and rearward. Just be careful of those hardlines but it will come out.
