Oil Pressure Switch

I tested the factory oil pressure switch with compressed air - seems the switching point is around 0.3Bar. I see you can buy switches with different switching pressures.

Is there any advantage to replacing the switch with one that trips at a higher pressure than a measly 0.3Bar?
Wouldn't it be better to know if oil pressure has dropped (for whatever reason) below say 50psi or whatever the normal idle pressure is (about 70psi for me)without having to read the gauge?
Wouldn't it be too late and most of your oil on the road and/or engine stuffed if the pressure drops below 0.3Bar before the light coming on and shutting the engine down?

Just a thought....
