hey everyone I have a 1990 rx-7 and when I start the car the oil pressure goes to the normal ~45 psi but then after about 30 seconds it drops down to 15psi and stays there no matter what rpm im at. Sometimes when I'm lucky it will come up right under 30... any info at all would be helpful... could it be the oil pressure sending unit? I hope its not the oil pump.. what would be the symptoms of each?

 

Generally its not the oil pump, they hardly die on a 2nd Gen RX7.

The stock gauge is really crappy so its best to get a cheapo manual gauge to double check the readings.

 

well thats good to hear about the oil pump. I wouldnt want to have to take the front cover off to get to it.. it was the oil sending unit as I suspected, just thought I'd ask because the part took 3 days to come in so I had to wait... thanks for the reply
