oil pressure

I bought an '87 RX7 turbo last summer. I know absolutely nothing about it. I notice that at idle, the oil pressure guage shows the oil pressure to be barely above zero. Is this normal or do I have a problem. The engine runs great otherwise but it is worrysome.

The stock senders are old and starting to fail. You need to verify oil pressure with another gauge.

If you really have very low pressure at idle it is probably due to the front cover o-ring. It blew out, or was assembled incorrectly originally.

i have the same problem.... but yeah once you drive. it goes up then your fine and if you drive it and doesn't read check the oil cooler line to be a little stiff and check that the oil filter after the car is running if its hot then you got oil pressure and it is what Aaron Cake said the oil pressure sender is going bad.. but to get it working for a short amount of time unplug the wire and clean the plug (what i did was used wd-40 and now it works).
