Oil Cooler on '82 FB?

Guys,
I am starting on my project car and found a Mazda-installed oil cooler under my radiator on my '82 FB. I had never seen one before, is this just for the GSL trim, or for all '82+ RX7's?

That's standard equipment on the FB. All Rx7s come with an oil cooler.

The separate oil cooler that bolted to the bottom of the radiator was standard on all model Rx-7's for the first few years. Must have been 83 when they deleted that and went to what they call the "Bee Hive" oil cooler which was a integrated, finned oil filter pedestal mount. Now a days some guys still like to retrofit a separate oil radiator as it does a better job of cooling off the oil.

... and just to add to Banzai's post, everything he said was absolutely true for the 12A cars, but for 1984-85, the SE used a radiator style cooler as well - except it was mounted in front of the radiator, not under it.

Thanks. Having only owned SA's my intimate knowledge of FB's has gaps. Reading these pages helps fill in those gaps.
