O-Ring triple check.
O-Ring triple check.
So I have a 1990 TII Rexy S5 and I am putting all of the auxiliary stuff back on my engine that was rebuilt. I am afraid I will forget to replace a few o-rings and to be honestly IDK if the PO had some in or not so I was wondering if anyone could give me a list of areas where I need to triple check and make sure I have the O-rings in place....Im mainly worrying about my manifolds

Hm, the only o-rings I can think of on the manifolds are the two that seal the lower intake to the rotor housings. Yes, they should absolutely be replaced if they are more than a few years old. All the other o-rings are internal, which MUST be replaced when the engine is rebuilt.
Do you have an copy of the Haynes or FSM?
The Factory Service Manual can be found in the FAQ For FC thread. It contains all this information and more, and is an essential tool for any sort of service work that needs to be performed on these cars.
Additionally, the Haynes service manual for the 1986 thru 1991 RX-7 (both turbo and NA) can be found at most local auto parts stores or purchased from any good bookstore (ISBN number 1 56392 007 7). It is only about $25 and is a great quick reference for things like this. Not only does it contain most of the information in the FSM condensed into an easy to read format, but it includes full wiring diagrams as well.
These manuals will answer 99% of service related questions for the car and if you intend to do your own repair work, you will need at least one of them. Preferably both, since the FSM is a free download.

Ok, I do have both manuals but I couldn't find much info on the o-rings in the manifold section....I've been searching Mazdatrix for these o-rings but I cannot find them! Any idea which section they will be in?
I looked through both manuals and it does show on the intake manifold that there are o-rings but I can't figure out where they actually go on the housings, like which holes. Sorry Im being pretty tenderfooted about this.

yep. they seal the coolant passage to the intake. the gasket alone wont do it.
here's a pic on the pineapple racing website showing the plugs that some ppl use to eliminate those O rings. the larger recessed diameter is where the O rings go.

Yep. They feed the turbo via the lower intake.
They go in the two bosses on the rotor housings, at the top. You can see the matching holes in the gasket.

Alright here is what Im working with...So I need an O-ring for both of the circle ports correct, even the one in the from housing that is blocked off? I can't seem to find these o-rings anywhere but I could be searching under the wrong names....I appreciate your help guys too
looks like u'll only need the one. take the old one with u to advanced or autozone and they will match it with what they have. probably can even find one at a hardware store. the O rings really aren't anything special, but the measurement for them is probably metric tho.
