Hey guys we were playing around on a straight away and after hammering it for a while i was past midline by a little bit, enough for me to notice. Is this acceptable on a rotary?84 GSL SE with a13b. I do have a tranny from a 79 12a in it temporarily and it does get hotish

Get a real temp gauge..that way you know what your actual temp is.
Half way is not a Measurement by any standards...especially when you are dealing with stuff made when Christ was a Cowboy..

I figured it would have some kind of accuracy. I thought the middle of the temp gauge was about 180 but I could be way off. I'll get a more accurate updated one in the near future though but I'm curious where other people's needles sit on the gauge

I'm not familiar with First Gens but S4 gauges sit about a 1/4 to 1/3 and S5 can go half way.(S5's read like OK ,then Rebuild though..lol!)
To me Personally,When I got the car I looked at the gauge and it had no actual temp numbers and I was going "what the frak"..so I bought a temp gauge.
I'm glad I did too,after the TII swap,It was what saved the engine.I would have never have noticed the Temp climbing on the Cluster.
This is Why I am suggesting an Actual gauge.If I can save another Member from a Rebuild then I have done my Job!..lol!
