No start cold unless i push start it
On my first day with my 87 rx7 non turbo. Im wondering why the car wont start when cold. If i turn the key and let the starter do the work the engine just spins and doesnt at all wanna come to life but if i push it down a fill is comes to life instantly. Now im not to sure how fast the engine should spin with the starter but it is comparable to a regular piston engine with a good battery not wanting to start. Something i do know is the car suffers from the dreaded 3800 rpm flat spot. could the secondary injectors be a concern? Just trying to gather as much info as i can so monday i can tackle this issue with some know how. i already plan on sparkplugs, oil change and fuel injector cleaner, as well as checking my battery and grounds.

compression test will be done hopefully monday, i just read the link which is great. im just wondering why the starter wont start it but a slow bump start will fire it right up. the car is missing the factory aircleaner so today i went to the junk yard and there was an almost complete 86 to pick parts off of. i noticed the airpump pumps air directly into the airfilter box, does anyone know why this is? also there is a hose that comes out of the back of the pump that goes into some kind of solenoid thingy. also it is having slight trouble starting hot too. will start everytime but not quickly. i might just give it a full tune up and put some miles on the thing before i go crazy.

today i when i was replacing the waterpump i found a few more issues. ok im not sure what this device does and what the four hose leading to it from the four things under the intake manifold. the lines are bolted to something at the bottom of the motor on the front side with a long rod coming from the throttle linkage. what is this? also what are the four things under the intake manifold? not the fuel injectors...well the lines were melted to the engine and the injectors under the manifold had really crappy connections. does anyone know where i can ohm out these wires to make sure they are still intact from the pcm to the injector? as in what pins to check? also a few of the vacuum lines were cracked. hopefully i can have it back together soon.

sounds like a flooded engine or a low compresion engine or if you really thinks its fuel starvation remove the fuel feed an stwch on the car you should see fuel pouring out......if its an injectors stuck open on starting then your dealing with a flooded engine
