Hey guys, I'm new to the rx7 and I just picked up a 1992 JDM rx7 TT , the car supposedly has some mods, 13 psi on stock turbos ,bigger injectors, hks intercooler, intake, 4" exhaust, and the CDU supposed to be "tuned" however the car seems to be running rich, it seems a little lazy, black smoke when boosted, smells like raw gas when she blows off, back fires when you hit her good with flames, I hope to head in the right direction with the car and to get it running optimal,
Ill post a pic of under the hood maybe someone can help me decipher what I have?

Oh and the car surges on a cold idle until its warmed up but then its smooth, he told me it was intake air sensor?

 

If you have a boost gauge do you notice any stalls in acceleration at certain boost points, specifically when it back fires?

 

I do have a boost gauge, lower rpm it quickly shoots to 10 psi, when the rpms climb up around 13psi it feels lazy and smokes black and do not pull very hard, i stoped using it because it afraid its going to hurt the engine. however at highway cruising speeds the car works well.

 

However sometimes when you punch it, the car feels pretty good, but not what i expect for 13/14 psi.
