CA new set of tires but unsure if they will fit

i bought a set of Bridgestone Potenzas S03 Pole Position's this weekend but im not sure if they'll fit in the stock fender width of my 91 FC3S. They're sized 225/50/16 52w front and 245/50/16 54y rear. i am running a 16in mesh wheel and unsure of the width of the wheels. Currently running 205/50/16 front and 225/50/16 rear. please help.

ps: i bought the set of four Potenzas with 95% thread left for 60 bucks talk about a steal

It depends on your wheel offset really. With a stock offset of +40, 225s up front and 245s in back should fit fine.

alright i'll give it a try. if not then this is the perfect excuse for some new wider fenders, and wheels of coarse(:

Offset is the number of millimeters between the mounting pad of the wheel and the centerline. If you have aftermarket wheels, you can look up what offsets they came in, or you can try to measure it yourself. Many aftermarket wheels have an offset that moves the wheel out from the hub, which means you would have extra clearance on the inside. But at the same time, if they're shifted outward too much, you can end up with the tires rubbing on the fender. You'll be picking up 1 cm of extra rubber on both the inside and outside of the tire, so check if you have some room to spare on both sides.

Here's a tool you can mess with that shows wheel and tire dimensions: http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp.

wow thanks that really helps ALOT. now i have another question. my neighbor has some gold mesh wheels that he's willing to give to me that he has mounted on his nova but are originally off of a 1989 pontiac trans am. all i know about the wheels are 16" with 5lug pattern. any way to determine if the my new potenzas mounted on those wheels would fit on my FC?

A quick google search says '82-'92 firebirds have a 5x120.7 bolt pattern. Your car has a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, which means it won't fit.
