New rx7 performance question
New rx7 performance question
Hello everyone I bought myself my first rx7, and '88 vert. 104,000 miles $2100. I've been wondering what ways could one possibly beef up the performance? I've been reading a lot and I've noticed that rotary engines respond greatly to a better exhaust, specifically a better catalytic converter(if any at all). If I were to remove the catalytic converter with a straight pipe(no smog tests in my area) how much gain in horsepower would I expect? Thanks.
Enough to make it worth it. Any exact horsepower estimates will be little more than guesses.
Also, a presilencer/resonator will give you a cleaner/quieter exhaust note than a simple straight pipe. Corksport sells a bolt-in 2.5" resonator that replaces the main cat, but it will make you lose the split air pipe. Racingbeat sells a longer "presilencer" that will require a matching header, but it has a pick up for the split air pipe. The split air pipe is the pressure source for your auxiliary port actuators, which are responsible for opening the additional intake ports above 3800 RPM (and roughly ~25hp).
