The car won't run with the AFM unplugged.

Since the car has been sitting for several years you have some work ahead of you.

Finding the original problem is going to be hard.

Start here:

Swap a different AFM onto the car.

Find a used harness via the classifieds section. The cost will be anywhere from free to a few hundred dollars.

A new harness at the dealer approaches $1000.

the s4 harness will not work your best shot is an aftermarket ECU with harness like Haltec etc.. or get someone that really knows what there doing to wire. However 91 Rx7 TII is a great gift and spending a little money should not hurt.

Good Luck
