CO new motor issues??

i recently rebuilt my 86 6 port got it back in the car having issues with it running
i was told after a rebuild its hard to get a rotory running due to a lack of compression

so i can get it started now but it will only run for a few sec then it dies

i was told to put some oil in the housing and turn it over a few times by and that will help with the compression issue and when i do this it fires right up but still wont stay running

iv removed all the emissions stuff and caped off all the vacuum lines not being used its got fresh fuel in it and im running pre mix iv searched the net and cant seem to come up with an answer

so anything helps thanks

Jumper the fuel check connector to see if it makes a difference.

The AFM has a fuel switch which allows it to control the fuel after the car has started and climbed above 500 rpm. If the switch or wiring is not proper than an engine would just start and then quickly die.

The rich smell can be rather normal.

if you can get it to keep running by playing with the throttle, try that, it might not want to idle right away. if it has trouble firing up, it will likely not idle either (if its due to compression).
oil will only bump the compression enough to get it to start, once its running that oil burns off fast.

playing with the throttle only keeps it running for a few more sec and some times it has a hard time starting the last few times it started i didnt put any oil in it
it will fire over and start about 5 times in a row then it has a hard time starting all most like its flooding im just hoping i didnt mess something up when i rebuilt it

crazy how one thing can throw everything off eh?

Do you have a wideband? might be a good investment, especially with the new motor, getting everything dialed
