New FD with some issues
Hey guys so I just got my first FD(with an engine problem) and I need some help.
The back story of the car is.. The previous owner(and only) was driving around the bay area at 105 degree weather when he noticed that the car temp gauge was saying hot.. I know that the stock gauge read is faulty and when it rises from its median that it is already too late.. Well long story short.. It over heated..
The car engine still runs but the owner said that it pushes water out of the expansion chamber only(which he swapped to a bullit sp? after it had overheated)...the water doesn't leak out of the engine bay nor through the exhaust..
From anyone's experience what does this mean.. I tried looking at the forums but I could not find anything on this specifically...
Is this a full rebuild or a rebuild/replacement couple different items.. I don't know more than that.. He hasn't had a rotary mechanic look at it or look into it..
If all else fails its off to mazda trix..

As styx indicated, the engine has to come out and apart to replace the coolant seals, which are almost certainly the cause of your symptoms. If the engine has any miles on it at all, it will make sense to replace a lot of other stuff during the rebuild...hard seals, hard seal springs, oil control rings, bearings etc. Plus miscellaneous hoses, gaskets and fluids. It really depends on what's found when it's apart. Speak with Mazdatrix about estimates. But if you want a wild guess, assuming turbos, housings and irons are good...between $4k and $5k if they do it all.
