Yes...you picked up a 2ndgen RX-7 instead of the more reliable 1stgen.

Seriously, though, it just means that a belt is loose or a tensioner is going out or not set right. Since I have a 1stgen with v-belts and adjustable brackets, this would def be the problem.

How a 2ndgen is set up....let's see if any 2ndgen guru's are home right now.

FCs use v-belts too. It's just the FD that was switched to serpentine belts.

A full tune up and check of everything under the hood is in order with any new purchase. Slack measurements for each belt are listed in the FSM, which you can download for free. There are links in the 2nd gen FAQ to download sites. Replacing sparks plugs, belts, coolant lines, vacuum hoses and an oil change should be high priorities.

In that case, it may not be a belt issue at all. A bad throwout bearing can make noise with the clutch pedal pressed in.

try seeing if your belt(s) have excess slack as in any . you say it does it at idle , so get out of your car pop the hood and isolate the noise , my rx has alittle whine when in neutral but its cuz the clutch is far from perfect sounds similar
also alternators can squeak squeel and scream right before they go

or pilot bearing. but if it's a screeching sound, even just resting ur foot on the pedal, makes it release bearing. either way u got to drop the tranny.

^^^^^^^agree

sounds like the t/o bearing is frozen....

so when you press the clutch pedal, it doesn't let the pressure plate turn easily causing the engine to die...........

Check the ECU plugs. I've had a plug slightly out before, and most of my gauges stopped working temporarily. And if your throwout bearing is toast, putting the transmission into gear will be difficult. Replace the clutch disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing. If you're going to go drop the transmission, you might as well replace all of the parts that wear.

im trying to figure out what the problem is....it seems like a throw out bearing...
these are my symtoms

1.when i put the clutch petal in when starting the car it makes a whining noise
2.when at idle and i slowly put the clutch petal in the noise intensify and my r.p.m's go down
3. it wont let me put it in to gear

yea that was my thinking. just replace the whole thing so i dont have to worry about it....im plan on dropping the tranny and getting a clutch kit and replace it..i just didnt know if it was the clutch fork. i was pretty sure it wasn't the pilot bearing.

oh yeah and i have seen white smoke come from my engine bay and it smelled like clutch...i heard that was an other symptom of a throw out bearing

yea thats what it was i check it...and they work now

And i found some clutch kits..they come with everything u said
