New 12A Won't Start

Just put in a rebuilt 12A in 85' it will run as long as I put gas in carb. It sat for a long time 1yr. should I rebuild carb? bought a kit just did not want to F with it. I can see gas in the little windows on side of carb.

Hmmm...if the gas has been in the tank for a year, it may not be good anymore. On top of that, gas and water will mix, so a carb that has gas in it but isn't run so the water can be "burned off" will tend to start getting things stuck internally over a year's time. Get some Gumout Carb Cleaner and hose the thing down. Get two cans and hose it down, inside and out. Blow it down the exposed air jets, replace the gas in the gas tank or add some Stabil, then try to start and run it on what ya got.

But you are starting it, eh? What part of Dallas? There is a LOT of support for rotaries in the Metroplex ~ "amateur", small business type tuners and also pro shops. Pick your poison.

Well I did not tell you I did drain the gas and put new in and I may have fell short on sitting a year prob. more. When I fill the carb and it is running and I am pumping the gas no more is going in the carb. Pump is working fine that is how I got the old gas out just trned on the key and pumped it all out. To my knowledge carb has never been off...should have rebuilt it when I put new engine in

Oh I live in Rowlett, know anyone that will rebuild it.

it very well may be the carburetor itself. however, after reading this part you wrote, you didn't mention replacing the filter after using the pump to empty the tank. did you? also, check the filters in the hard lines of the carburetor. try those before condemning the carburetor itself.

Odd part?

Well pulled the assembly with the float out and to my suprise no needle and seat just had a one piece with a clear ball on top. Does anyone know if I should replace the one that came with the re-build kit. here is a picture:
