Unhappy Never have I ever... Starting Problem

So this has gone beyond me and beyond my capabilities as well as my lead techs at my shop. My 87FC non turbo Starts and runs without hickup or fail when its cold / been sitting for a few hours. If I drive the car enough to bring it up to normal operating temp and then shut it off it will not restart. It will crank and crank and kick and crank and kick and kick and crank etc... I have tried the fuel injector fuse trick as well as holding the throttle down with the ignition in the lock position for as long as 5 minutes... (5 minutes there with your foot on the gas wide open and the ign off is an eternity.) it still wont bloody start. Please Help!!!

check the water thermo sensor at the back of the water-pump assembly.
it is known to be a culprit of HOT starts..also low compression and leaky injectors can attribute to this.

I will check the temp sensor. The car seams to have good compression so we were thinking leaking injectors thus the WOT and Injector Fuse trick but didn't think/know about the Temp sensor.

O snap. Where is the fpr located? That's a good one. Also, on the temp sensor, will it put the ecm into a "limp mood" if the readings are off and keep it from starting until cooled and in a "normal" mode?

an 87 Rx7 does not have "limp mode"..the 89-91 can get scanned for codes.

I had a similar problem with one of my old ones, never found out the reason, could at least push start it though. That can be a pain depending on where you live

So I think we tracked it down to the throttle position sensor. tried all the other things. Its Ohms are only reading at the idle position and do not change through out its range. unplugged it and not change in engine performance. Just leaving it unplugged and going to let the car cool down every time we shut it off. Its wicked expensive to replace.

Thanks everyone for all the help and input. It's been way worth it signing up for this forum.

Try a little contact cleaner on that TPS if you havent already, I had one come back to life when it was cleaned. Also make sure you have good grounds. I would also ensure you have a good connection at the AFM.
