Need ideas on an exhaust.. :)

Alright, doing a s5 t2 swap into my 87.. I know, good times.. I have a ss 3" downpipe, and heres where things will get opinionated. I have always been a minimalist when it comes to looks. Like to look stock, and suprise on commers. Thats why I'm doing a water to air intercooler.

What combo can I do for a free flowing, quiet exhaust? I was plannin on a flowmaster single in dual out 3 chamber where the cat would be, dual 3" back to two chamber flowmasters. The flowmasters are due to an extremely good hook up on them. Racing beat sounds great, but funds depleated quickly while performing the swap.

That sounds like a good plan. I'd also suggest a resonator just after the downpipe.

on my S5 convertible i did a straight pipe with a resonator and stock mufflers and it sounds nice and clean just a little deeper and throatier than a stock sound

That sounds good, but will probably be loud unless you put in a pre-silencer... it will also be noticeably not stock lol.

Any sound or movie clips? Searched youtube and spent nearly three hours listening to strait exhausts. Too many, and no descriptions. Thanks for the suggestions, would like to hear that magnaflow set up. Turbo or non?

I just finished building my custom exhaust using cheap $25 summit mufflers as resonators and magnaflow straight through stainless muffler. I used a magnaflow high flow cat as well. On my T2, it sounds perfect (to me at least). It's nice and refined, growly, but not all obnoxious and loud. Nor does it sound like theres a worn out old kazoo in my tailpipe either.

Here's mine
