Double Throttle Vacuum Hose

So I have this vacuum hose with a little green check valve on it. Looks like air only passes one way. The hose is broken. Any suggestions on where I can source one? What happens if I attach a vacuum hose with no check/one way valve?

I went to a Mazda dealer and they had no luck figuring it out. The FSM isn't real clear on what this is.

did the vacuum line break, or the check valve itself? just asking because i don't see why you cannot salvage the check valve, and just replace the cracked hose. vacuum hose is friggin cheap, so just goto your FLAPS and buy whatever length you need, cut out the check valve from the old hose, install onto new hose (make sure the check valve is flowing in the correct direction), then go drive the **** outta your 7.

also, pics and more info about your type of car helps.

The part is available at Mazdatrix. Secondly, the unit that the hose connects to has likely stopped working many moons ago so the unit and the hoses could just be plugged up. Look at the link supplied and toggle down to the bottom of the page. The item will run you $35 plus shipping. As suggested, plugging up the associated hoses will do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

3vil - it broke at the end where it goes into the check valve.

Satch - I noticed it broken when I pulled the UIM to remove the injectors for cleaning. You are right, it could have been non-functional for a while. I was just going to stick a piece of vac hose without the check valve, but think I'll just plug it off instead.

My car is an 88 convertible, NA< 61K miles in great shape. I am a fiddler. I had changed plugs, plug wires, removed a clogged cat, changed the fuel filter, replaced the thermostat, added new mufflers, and a bunch of other minor stuff I'm forgetting, but it still idles a little rough. I should leave well enough alone, but gas mileage also is horrible at around 11 mpg.

We'll see what happens when I put it back together this weekend.

Thanks guys for your help/advice.

You could replace the Oxygen sensor to help improve mileage if you haven't already done so. I believe a clogged cat can damage the sensor I mentioned. Bosch makes a fairly cheap replacement. The roughness in your idle might very well be a result of the broken piece associated w/the double throttle diaphragm as it would likely cause a vacuum leak which in turn should affect the quality of the idle in a negative manner. Plug up all related ends and see if it affects your idle in a positive way.
