Need Help, rpm Power issues

I have a 88 rx7 , only mods are aftermarket exhaust, mass airflow, and intake. I just bought the car a month ago, he said it had a couple problems that were easy quick fixes, I thought he'd be telling the truth but I guess not every one likes doing that these days, anyways my car has been messing upits been kind of hot out lately not sure if that helps or not but it over heats quick!!!!! It won't give out power after 4k rpms it sputters, I'm not doing too well on money right now, but I'm willing to do whatever if takes to get the problem fixed, I changed spark plugs, oil change, still does it. I need some help!

Drain your coolant, flush the system good,Replace the Thermostat with an OEM(don't ask just do it!).use a good coolant.50/50 is good..(green NOT DEXCOOL!)
Also it helps to have the Fan in good order and to make sure that the plastic belly tray is on the car so air doesn't escape. That air helps cool the engine too, besides the rad/fan cooling system set up.
No belly tray, the air bypasses the engine and it tends to make it heat up more than normal engine temp..
