need help with idle

I have an 85 GSL and pulled off the carb for a rebuild. I put the carb back on and the car is running great over 2000 rpms. Below 2000 it lugs badly and won't idle. It tries to idle, but lugs a sec or two and then quits running. Do you think this can be adjusted or is it a vac leak? I am not very familiar with carb work so any advice will be appreciated!

Sounds like a vaccum leak to me. Check that you have all the vaccum lines hooked back up that are on the spacer below the carb and that none are broken. A shot of carb cleaner around the carb can help with tracking down leaks, motor will rev up when the carb cleaner hits a vaccum leak...

If that doesn't help, try tightening the idle speed screw located on the driver side of the carb next to the accelerator pump adjusting nut. Sterling has a good walkthrough on how to tune your carb. Just check the first gen faq.
