In need of direction

I have an '83 Rx7. Need to rebuild the tranny. I would like to take it to a shop that is known for knowing what they're doing! Not just my neighborhood trans guy. I am willing to travel for quality, I would'int say im abusive but I do drive hard! I am in the L.A.-O.C. area. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Your best bet would be to ask in your local forum.

These trannies are usually pretty tough, unless you've gone turbo and are putting down over 300 hp. To have a shop rebuild one, I would guess you're going to be looking at well over 1,500 bucks. You can usually find a used tranny for a couple of hundred.
