Check the speedometer cable. It may have slid out of the back of the instrument cluster, broken internally, or broken where it screws into the transmission tailhousing.
My money is on that it just slid out of the back of the instrument cluster. Sometimes you can reach up behind and push it back into place, often the cluster has to come out.
