My car crank but not start.

Hi guys, I really could use some helps here on my 1989 2nd Gen Rx7 Turbo II. I found out my car having a problem when starting, it cranks for a long time to start, and somehow it just not start at all three weeks ago. I replaced the car battery, terminals, spark plugs, and none of them make the car running. After I get a new fuel pump for my car, I think I find the reason. The fuel pump is not getting power at all! There is no sound from it when my friend turns the key to ACC and On. But this fuel pump is a new one that I just replaced. My thought is that either the fuse of fuel pump is bad, or the fuel pump relay is bad. I have no idea of the location of both mentioned above, hope someone could tell me where they are. And if you have a thought of other possible solutions, I am glad to try

Should try searching around for how the fuel pump is controlled. I believe the fuel pump does not prime when the key goes to on. I think the air flow meter activates the fuel pump, so that fuel pump is activated only when air is entering the engine. There should be a fuel pump jumper connector so you can bypass the air flow meter and run the fuel pump directly as a check.

That being said, have you checked for large vacuum leaks? Are you sure the ecu is on, fuses under the hood are okay, engine fuse under the dash is okay?

Thanks, I will search about how the fuel pump is controlled later today.

As for the large vacuum leaks, I don't think there is any as I happen to turn the car on once without knowing why it is starting. But I would like to check that as you mentioned it to me, and by the way how to check for large vacuum leaks? I am not a big car tech and my capability is at the level of changing new spark plugs and fuel pump. I hope it is not a hard job for me

I believe the ecu is good, but I would love to check it as long as I know how to , I will also get the fuse done today and see what I can find.

Again I thank you for your quick post and I appreciate the helpful suggestions

Yup I am reading those right now. I think it might be good to check the Fuel Pump Resistance Relay and Circuit Opening Relay as they are powering the fuel pump after the key is turn on.

I also find a guy says that the AFM might either short or have a connector that controls the fuel pump. links here:FC RX7 No power to fuel pump, faulty relay? Pics Included - AusRotary
