motor swap

yea im hoping someone can help me i have a wrecked auto 89 rx7 gtu and i am going to pick up a 87 5spd tomorrow im wondering if anyone can tell me the differences between the years and if its just a simple swap to put the 89 motor(35k miles) into the 87 (almost 200k miles) thanks alot

Well the 89 motor will bolt in just fine, BUT electrically they are nothing alike.

So that means either you change the front cover, MOP and use all the S4 intake parts and the S4 engine harness and ECU, or you do a custom harness and re-pin electrical plugs to make the S5 harness and ECU work in the S4 car.

Simple swap mechanically, pain in the *** swap electrically.

And there are countless changes between the two years you mention.
