FL Microtech lt10s questions

I have seen some threads on the forum about microtechs but I dont really know enough to keep up, I have an 89 TII with a microtech lt10s with the x4 igntion, I have plugged in every map that I could find on this forum and my car still wont start, I believe mainly because they have t04b and t04e turbos and I have a stock one. The only upgrade I have is 750cc secondaries with stock primaries. please help!!!!

Well, start from scratch.

Are you getting fuel? Injectors clicking during cranking? Fuel pump running?

Are you getting spark?

Is the Microtech registering RPM?

OK.

Since you've plugged in every map you can, then who knows where the settings are.

In the Microtech forum you'll see a sticky with the factory base map. Use those values to set up your ECU.

Is the CAS properly installed? Was the mark on the gear lined up with the mark on the CAS when it was installed with the eccentric pulley yellow mark lined up to the pointer on the front cover?

You're kind of providing almost zero information.

Is the CAS stabbed correctly? Procedures to install the CAS are in the FSM and Haynes.

So, if you are getting fuel, and spark at the right time, and have compression, maybe it is just seriously flooded?

I'm assuming that the vacuum line to the Microtech is connected to a proper nipple on the intake manifold downstream from the throttle body.

Is this a stock port engine?

Has it ever ran on this Microtech?

yes the CAS is installed correctly and timing is correct and I am getting fuel and spark, its not floded because I have taken plugs out and turned the motor over quite a few times. I believe its a stock port engine, it was built before I got it. and yes it did run on the microtech but I couldnt get into boost and idled a little rough

Have you unflooded the car? Put about an ounce of oil into each leading spark plug hole. Crank over several times with plugs removed. Repeat, crank over by hand. Put in plugs and try to start the car.

If this is a fresh engine, built with used housings, it will be very difficult to start on an untuned standalone. It may require a push start with another vehicle.

ok so I did the oil thing and it started but ran like **** (i think due to the oil) it smoked like crazy and then when I tried tolet it idle it died, but I didnt have the intercooler on. so I had a buddy pull me and it ran and I drove it but couldnt boost due to no intercooler. tomorrow ill put the intercooler on and pull start it again and see how well it does and ill let you know, please post any ideas now that I have updated thank you so much Aaron Cake!!

At what state of disassembly is this car? With no intercooler, and who knows what else not installed, then why are you even trying to start/tune it?

Anyway, once you get it started, don't expect it to idle. The ECU needs to be tuned and it won't idle or drive very well until that is done.
