Metering oil pump failure?
Metering oil pump failure?
Just did my first heart transplant to my 87 n/a - nice looking street ported Atkins replacement for my original, which I have a feeling is going to be really hard to break in gently.
(Poor me, right?)
The problem is that within the first 2 minutes of firing it up and getting all excited, I noticed no oil feeding through my metering oil pump lines and immediately had to shut it down.
So I need to know: am I overreacting? Is it just going to need a couple of minutes for the entire lubrication system to prime itself? Personally, since it mates right up to where the main oil pump runs, I would think I should see oil in the lines immediately, and I thought that the mechanical pumps such as I have don't usually just fail, so any input I could get on what could cause it to not work would be immensly valuable to me.
Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Put some 2 stroke oil into your gas tank and let it run with the premix. It sometimes takes a decent amount of time (couple to 10 minutes) for the OMP to start working correctly and be primed.
