Main Cat

I have an 81 and was told the main cat was fried so I decided to take it off and gut it out till I could replace it with a RB Header. I pull it off and there is nothing in it! Its just hallow with what appears to be very thick walls. Go easy on me i'm new to the rotary engine.

Also my overheated exhaust light is on with an annoying buzzer. I pull the sensor behind the passenger seat and unplug it and the buzzer goes away but the light stays on. I replaced the sensor and it did the same thing. Is there another exhaust sensor under the car? One thing I notice is when the previous owner replaced part of the exhaust the metal hose that feeds air to the cat was cut off and just hanging down there. Is that the way it it should be? Any advice would be AWESOME!!!
