ON Low Oil Pressure

Hi all, recently got a 87 t2. previous owner said its has jspec engine. its runs off n333 ecu.
When i got the car, oil pressure gauge didnt work, got no resistance from it when it was running, replace the sender and started the car, the factory gauge show very low pressure, like less than 1kg/cubic cm (like 10psi?), reving to 3k show the same pressure with a bit fluctuation. i did slowly drop a bit pass 4k rpm. I have also tried the pressure sender from my n/a, same thing. On my n/a, first start up cold would show 4 kg/cubic cm.
looking around it look like it missing the condenser. found the connector but no condenser. i did ground the wire to the oil pressure sender and when key on it rise all the way. don't have resistors to check if its accurate. i don't have a mechanical oil pressure gauge but will get one soon. there is no external leaks. after some research, i think it may be the o-ring in the front cover. Asking you guy for suggestion before i proceed and order the gaskets.

firstly, you can go ahead and start posting questions like this in the regular areas of the forum now. with 90 posts and 2.5 years under your belt, it's time.

as for your problem, it's tough to say that it's NOT the front cover o-ring and it can't hurt to check it, so go ahead. i think you've sussed out the electrical parts for the gauge itself enough and the o-ring is the next likely culprit.

I rented an oil pressure gauge and got good oil pressure, 700 rpm 20psi 3k rpm 60+, I'm going to try another cluster and see what happens.

Was that fully warmed up? The oring may not be causing problems until its hot and swelled

The car was half to third way warmed up. Then neighbor started complaining about the noise haha
Even when the car is cold, the cluster show badly any pressure.

Well, the stock gauges in one word, suck. Your best bet is to get and aftermarket gauge and leave it in the car. You can change between clusters and still get the same problem
