Lots of problems...all at once WTF? (cooling, boost, etc)

Alright,

I've been searching for a few hours and came to an idea of what's going on, but am not sure. This is where I need help. All these issues happened around the same time.

First off (Cooling issue), the radiator fans don't come on. I was under the impression that there are 4 relays for them, so for them not to work at any speed or temperature is really strange, especially for both fans.

Secondly, (High idling at random) Literally right after I had warmed my car up to the middle of the gauge and closed the door (sorry, don't have a real temp gauge) without me touching anything else, the idle shot up to 2500 rpms and stayed there. I was annoyed but decided to drive home. During the drive home the idle crept up to 3500 rpm and never dropped below that. I found the throttle arm screw thingy had worked it's way down somehow and tightened up. I loosened it and the idle dropped to 2200 rpms and then immediately went back up to 3500 rpms. Then after 5 min or so, it dropped to 500. It stayed there for maybe 10 sec, and then shot right back up to 3500. I shut it off after that.

Third, (boosting, misfiring at random). At the same time I got in the car to drive home, the car started misfiring really badly, like fouled spark plugs. However, I noticed a ton of "pressure" escaping like the bov or wastegate was stuck open. So, with little power, I decided to drive with the hazards on. Then around 1/2 throttle at 3k the air rushing noise disappeared instantly and I was thrown back into my seat and the car took off. (I assume sticking wastegate). Then about 200 ft later, it started to sputter really badly again and the rushing sound came back. It does this consistently. I was wondering if it was the BOV or Wastegate at this point? And, do you think the misfiring is related? It always seems to misfire when I hear the air rushing by, and always runs well to about 4.5k rpm until it hits another wall. (That's why I am guessing wastegate, since the 2nd turbo is supposed to come it at 4.5k right?). Anyway, it's hard to tell at idle because I can't get the idle to fall below 2.5-3.5k where the turbos I assume are engaging and causing all kinds of rubbish.

Okay, sorry for that, I am a bit frustrated seems how the car ran fine yesterday and then today it's problems times 3.

Thanks

Your fan issue sounds like a problem with the temperature switch. Activate the AC, this should activate the fans at low speed. If they still don't work check the voltage on the relays.

My guess for the boost problem is BOV. When it's stuck open you get a huge boost leak that leads to no power and if the ECU doesn't adapt to this properly you will run way rich and get the backfiring issue. If the BOV stays stuck open at idle this may also be the cause for the idle problem.

If the car has cruise control then check that cable as it could contribute to a higher than normal idle. Also, w/the car idling press upward on the throttle linkage in front of the throttle body and see if this lowers the idle. If it does then something is keeping the throttle plates opem more than necessary. Also, unplug the BAC and see if this drops the idle any as a sticking BAC can lead to a higher idle.

Thanks guys, I'll yank the BOV today and give it a whirl. I check the wastegates yesterday and the flappers are all working fine and the arm, although stiff obviously, didn't seem to hang up on anything.

I never knew of the BAC's existence now, I'll check it out as well. Thank you!

EDIT: The cruise control was tightening the throttle down, but, after loosening it, the idle dropped, and then shot back up again.

So, I blasted both BOVs with cleaners and lubed it up a tiny bit and idle returned back to normal....ish. I have to bump it up as it's idling around 400 rpms now. Seems like it solved the high idle part, thanks a bunch!

However, the sputter seems like a separate issue as it's still sputtering now. I'll yank out the plugs and see.

Fans are still not coming on, not even with the A/C on either. I'm thinking I might have to rig them up for now.
