Thank you too for the information. I am off today so I will give the connections a once over. From all the reading(and I admit I have a lot too do before I go tearing into anything huge with this) it almost seems more cost efficient to just go ahead and swap the mechanical omp from the s4 and chip the ecu to not look for it. Im sure there are a few other things that need to be swapped over so Ill weigh the options of cost effectiveness as I would like to see if this engine can be put back on the road within a reasonable cost or should i just save that for a rebuild regardless and go from there.

I would probably start a thread of your own or continue to research your problem specifically about your year and symptoms and not hijack my thread. What helps me wont necessarily help you. Someone stop me if I am being an ***, i just dont want to have to constantly sift through responses on this thread for the answers I asked for.

you may have the same symptoms, but if your '88 doesn't have a full S5 swap with electronics, then your "problem" will not be the same. your MOP is mechanical. no code. no limp mode.

oh my god... my car hesitates right at 3800 RPM... I couldnt figure out why though.. do you think this would be the ground that everyone over-looks (under the intake system)?

I HAD the same problem with my car. It's a bad igniter coil. I went to pick n' pull and grabbed another one. Fixed it.

well after pulling things apart, finding a pulley that was laying free on top of the under car plastics, finding a lot and i mean A LOT of stripped bolts not only on the engine but the car its self. I have decided to just move on with finding a front clip as a whole and having the necessary body panels i need replaced as well as the engine I desire (turboII). As I dislike spending money unnecessarily, i figure this will allow the best for faster progression, so I am close to half on that amount and just working and taking parts off to inspect and add to the list of needed for replacement or is still salvageable.

So on my vacation I didnt really press hard to do a lot of work but i got what I wanted to do. That was pull the engine and the tranny.
at start, most unhooked, nothing underneath unbolted.

after finding out that everything is minus one bolt and unbolting everything else we have separation just needing lifted out. (driveshaft only had 3 of 4 bolts in it, both front wheels had 4 lug nuts not 5, most everything had a missing bolt)

almost, though this is when we realize that not everything is unattached and have to lower it back down, remove the intake manifold to find a plug missed and finally get the harness off the engine.

its out and we moved the car outside to clean up all the transmission fluid that looked like a bad cartoon in which someone dropped a car on someone.

looks like its about to do a wheelie standing still with all the weight missing upfront.
