looking to buy an rx7
I'm looking into buying an 86 rx7, however the one I'm looking at has an overheating problem and the owner has told me its a coolant seal. I've done research and have seen mixed reviews.
So I'm asking for the opinion of the veteran rx7 owners. Should I walk away or what is a reasonable price to get it for?

If the car has a bad coolant seal, it needs a new engine, or at the very least a rebuild that will require replacement of some hard parts (rotor, housing, iron).

Figure between a grand and 2 grand for a new engine if you do the work yourself and probably that or more for it to be pulled and resealed. Figure that into whatever price they are asking. I paid 3100 for a Turbo II that needed a new engine. I have over 7k in a car that's not worth it but I like to tinker and it's in great condition body wise. Guess it depends how much money or time you have

If it needs a new engine I would not pay more than about 600-700 depending on the condition of the body and interior. Shells in this neck of the woods are going for about that. I got mine for 800$ running, just needed a clutch.
