NJ Looking for apexi map diagram like mine

My RX7 is currently not running... Issue: car starts up cold, runs for 30-45 seconds at a great smooth idel, then suddenly shuts off. Turns out motor floods out with gas!!!:
Buddy 1 says:: GET A NEW COIL PACK.
Buddy 2 says:: TOO MUCH FUEL COMSUMPTION. GET AN EXACT MAP TUNE FROM
FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS THE EXACT SAME SET UP AS YOU DO.
Buddy 3 says:: YOUR TIMING IS OFF.
Buddy 4 says:: I DONT KNOW.

All my buddies are honda guys except for buddy 2. Problem now is finding somebody with my tune and exact set up.....impossible.
But just incase someone can help....here are the specs.

(T78 GREDDY TURBO- 3MM APEX SEALS- 850CC PRIMARYS- 1100 SECONDARYS- STREETPORT-POWER FC COMMANDER- APEXI COMPUTER- GREDDY TURBO TIMER- GREDDY BOOST CONTROLER- 64MM WASTE GATE- GREDDY 3IN INTERCOOLER PIPING- AND GREDDY BOV) And I think thats all....

HELP!!! PLEASE! I have been building this for a year and half. This thing is starting
to break my heart. I just want it to run.. email me.... call me something....

I would pull the injectors and get them ultrasonically cleaned and flow tested. Sounds like one of them is leaking fuel.

On second thought, you should be able to tell what's going wrong.

First, check for spark on all 4 plugs. While you're at it, install new plugs since FDs like to eat spark plugs every now and again. If you get strong spark from all of them, move onto fuel.

Next, pull the UIM, rats nest, etc so you can get to the fuel rail. Lift the fuel rail from the block and put a couple of cups under the injectors. Now take a paper clip to the small black box between the battery and driver wheel and jumper the F/P to one of the GND terminals. Turn the ignition on, but don't crank. You should hear the fuel pump run and look for leaks.

If that passes, you probably need the injectors serviced. Make sure to use a service that can flow test the injectors so you'll be able to tell if the problem was found and fixed.

Last of all, if that doesn't work just find a good rotary shop and let them solve the problem. There are a few in NJ. Your buddies definitely don't seem to know much about FDs. It's not their fault, but that advice is generally misleading.

Dave

NJ Thanks for the information...

Unfortunatly already tried that. I Had solved these to problems before.
At first the motor was cranking at a steady slow crank. I checked my coil
pack turns out : power to the coil pack was cut:
Solution : rewired power to coil pack using original plug.
Reward : I got some spark.

Motor went to crank AGAIN at a slow steady crank. I smelled gas!!
I checked my fuel rail empty.
Turns out.. gas lines were backwards.
Solution: switched to correct settings.
Reward : Motor cranks and trys to start!!! at a high uneven crank.

Now motor bogs out with fuel.

How long has it been that the injectors of this car were last in service? If it's more than a couple of months I'd definitely send them out for that cleaning.

NJ Fuel injectors...

Just a thought... the fuel injectors have been sitting for a while. Although
if the motor is flooding out, wouldn't that mean I have great fuel flow?

I don't see how flooding out is great fuel flow. It sounds more like an injector that's stuck open. Great fuel flow to me is the injector delivering exactly what the ECU asks for.

NJ Hey yea!

Wow, I should have thought about that.... I will look intot that.
Just one more question. My ECU was base map tuned by the
{RX7 STORE} on the FC Commander it states (64.7% FUEL CONSUMPTION)
Is this way to high? Or is it correct, and your theory of a stuck open
fuel injector wrong?
(Just a question, I just wanna learn more you know.)

I don't have a PFC commander to be able to answer your question.

I'm sure you could find some useful info on this site about that. There is a section just for PFC programming.

Here is a good local rotary shop in NJ for you: http://irperformance.com/

Never listen to Honda guys about RX7s. Different beasts.

Getting a motor to run with 850cc primaries ain't easy. Spend some time using the Search feature to search on past threads on the topic in the Power FC section.

He brings up a critical point that I missed: Is the "base map" tune you got from RX7store written for 850cc primaries and 1100cc secondaries?

The "base map" available on an Apexi PFC is written for stock power or just a little more and stock injectors, which is like 50% less fuel. If you're running the PFC standard base map on your injectors it would explain a whole lot.

NJ Thanks you Guys

Gracer7 I will make sure I will look into this link. I have to, seeing that I saw the FUEL COMSUMPTION screen and Now I cant find it to save my life... or my 7. LOL

Dgeesaman, When I sent it to the store, they saked me what modifications I had so they would tune it to run rich. I did look into the PFC screen about injectors, they marked down
850cc primarys (BUT) the same 850cc for secondaries. Meaning they did tune it..... but this mistake make a difference??? Your thoughts?

You can't do it from the Commander. You need a datalogit. There are some threads on this in the FAQ under the T section for tuning.

It should not. The secondaries only fire above 3500rpm and will not affect idle.

I would still pull the injectors and have them cleaned and flow tested, it's under $100. Then take it to a good rotary shop for tuning. FDs don't tend to run very well unless they are tuned individually.
