Limited Slip Dif
Greetings people.
I've got an '84 GSL-SE.
Could someone please confirm that I have limited slip differential, please. What I'm asking is whether all GSL-SE's have limited slip OR whether it's possible that I don't have limited slip.
ALSO the maintenance manual states that limited slip differential takes a different kind of oil and then, rather than saying what it takes, says: talk to a Mazda dealer. Can someone please tell me what kind of gear oil or lube to use.
Thanks

From everything that I have heard, the GSL and GSL-SE from 83-85 all have the LSD.

Thanks guys,
Any literature I've come across states that the GSL and SE both have limited slip so I've going to go with the idea that, until proof of the contrary, ALL GSLs and SEs have LSD (no exceptions).
Talked with one of my friends who's a mechanic. He said: the lubes (oils) they make today are far more advanced and are all appropriate for LSD. So I'm not going to fret over that.
Will the LSD work with an FC? Dunno. I'm guessing that the FC must already have LSD. I'm I out to lunch on this?

Before gear lube got better the hot set up for the LSD was a mixture of synthetic gaer oil and mineral. the syn. was thought to be too slipery for best LSD operation. 50/50 0r 70/30 were various recommended mixtures. I used 70% syn for many years with very good results. Not only will a diff for a fb not fit a fc but there are two diff bolt patterns for fb 1979-1982 and 1983-1985 I might be off a year. change could be at 81 or 84. Any quality syn should work well today. I use that Purple stuff (expensive). there ae many quality syn gear lubes on the market. Mobile1,Amsoil,ect.
