well right behind my acceleration cable on my s4 13b na has a lil round plastic clear almost(lil yellowish from wear) about an inch and a half by inch and a half. but it is dripping after i stop the car and kill the engine it seems like extra fuel relieve or something but am curious if this is bad it drips one drop like every 10-15seconds for like a few minutes after it was running. need a pic i will try to put one up

 

Hard to tell from your description. Is this drip on the inside of the car? If so, it is probably your brake booster leaking fluid.

well its on the front part of the engine. its tucked under alot of stuff but it to the left of the alt back about 4 inches and about 2inches down

 

If you're talking about the pulsation damper, that is a major fire hazard. It is common for them to leak after 20+ years, and it should be replaced ASAP. The PD is on the end of the primary fuel rail, under the intake manifold & straight back from the alternator.

 

i looked up pulsation damper and none of em looks like whats leaking. if it helps its more behind the thermostat housing and it doesnt smell gasy unless it used up gas or something. maybe its coolant. i seem to use a little bit more than a normal vehicle.

That is the PD. You need to STOP driving the car and fix it.

 

are u serious ive been driving lots and and real hard driving. now that u have said this do i just need to replace the plastic part itself and what all does it take to get it off. and is there any tips i could get on replacing it. thanks.(so would this be the reason my gas doesnt go veryfar?)

so i definetly need a uim gasket replaced if i remove the uim? and is it easier to put in a banjo bolt for 25 buck rather than a new damper for nearly 150?

 

There are differing opinions as to whether the banjo bolt replacement is the proper course of action to take.

Replacing the gasket would be a good idea but I guess if the UIM can be removed w/o disturbing it then maybe not. Thank you.

 

my gasket looks brand new still. prob from the rebuild 46k ago. but neways is there supossed to be a screw in the hole in the front of the PD cause if so mines missing it. im thinking about the banjo screw. ive heard good things about them, nothing bad but is it a ok idea if i cannot afford the PD

 

Yes the PD needs to have a screw in the middle. It leaks without one, and you can't just replace the screw since it has to be tightened perfectly. Too much or too little will still leak.

The banjo bolt mod is the hack way to go, so the only "good" thing to be said about it is that it does away with the fuel leak. The PD is there to keep fuel pressure stable. When injectors open, rail pressure fluctuates. Pressure changes mean different volumes of fuel injected. It's the cheap route that sacrifices a useful function.

 

well the way i think imma take since i all ready bought the banjo bolt and its now on it way. i will only use it for a temp time. i will eventually be able to afford the pd and will just replace after such time. and thanks rr88 for the straight up answer.
